Palmeiras have posted a cumulative deficit of R$ 196 million to August, and September is expected to reflect the sale of Allan to Manchester City.

According to Globo.com, August figures did not include that transfer, agreed at about R$ 220 million fixed, rising to R$ 240 million with bonuses. The player sales line booked only R$ 24.7 million in the month.

With no major outgoing deals in the period, August delivered a R$ 39.6 million deficit, against a budgeted surplus of R$ 51.7 million.

The September balance is anticipated to change markedly, with further exits also completed, including Kaique to Sporting for €4 million, about R$ 23 million, and Riquelme Fillipi to Inter Miami for $6 million, about R$ 30 million.

The club had projected a surplus of R$ 73.6 million by August, yet reached that deficit mainly because it chose to hold on to players.

The budget targeted R$ 399 million in sales, a figure that remained well short to August as the board prioritised on-pitch performance and kept leading names. After Manchester City’s offer, considered very good for all sides, the club agreed to sell a standout, and calculates it has passed 85% of its sales goal and should balance its books by the end of the year.
