Palmeiras returned to work on Friday morning at the Academia de Futebol, beginning preparations to get back on the pitch after the calendar pause. According to Nosso Palestra, Paulinho has stepped up his recovery from a muscle injury.
Their next fixture is on 8 October, against Bahia at 21:30 at Nubank Parque, in the 29th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The sides met in Salvador on 5 April, Palmeiras winning 2-1 with Arias on target and Santiago Mingo’s own goal completing the scoring.
Friday’s session started with activation work in the Centre of Excellence. The squad then moved to the pitch for small-sided technical drills with varied objectives set by Abel Ferreira’s staff.
Two teams took part directly, while a third occupied the flanks as “curinga”. Youth players were integrated to top up the numbers.
Paulinho split his rehabilitation between indoor physiotherapy and work on the pitch, including accelerations, ball exercises and changes of direction.
Marlon Freitas has now featured in 52 matches for Palmeiras in 2026, level with goalkeeper Carlos Miguel. He said the milestone reflects his fitness and the club’s structure, adding that he is grateful to those around him and focused on helping the team achieve its goals.
He also viewed the break as useful to recover unavailable players, raise internal competition and allow physical and tactical fine-tuning. With the run-in ahead, he stressed cutting errors and increasing efficiency to meet the season’s objectives.
