With eight players on international duty, the remaining squad completed muscle activation and technical work. Under Abel Ferreira they ran small-sided drills, and academy players joined in.

Paulinho attended. The No 10 sustained an adductor longus tendon injury in his right leg in late August as he prepared to return, delaying his comeback. He completed physiotherapy on and off the pitch, plus ball drills with accelerations, touches and changes of direction.

Staff view the break as key for physical and mental recovery, with Palmeiras the country's only club still in three competitions.

With around 20 days until the first of what the team term 16 finals, focus shifts to the Brasileiro after a dip in results. The aim is to revive first-round form and chase top spot, currently held by Flamengo.

The Bahia match, in the 29th round, is set for eight October at 21:30 Brasília time at Nubank Parque. Palmeiras won 2-1 when they met in April. Ticket sales start next week.
