Palmeiras set a historic mark in the Choque-Rei on Sunday, defeating São Paulo at Arena Barueri to reach the Campeonato Paulista final and extend their longest unbeaten run against their rivals.
The Verdão are now 11 matches without defeat in the derby, seven wins and four draws since July 2023, with 18 scored and six conceded. Nosso Palestra notes that this surpasses the club’s previous best of 10 without loss between August 2017 and January 2020, which featured six wins and four draws.
It is also five victories in a row. The sequence reads 1-0 in the 2025 Paulista semi at Allianz Parque, 1-0 in the 2025 Brasileiro first round at Arena Barueri, 3-2 in the second round at Morumbis, 3-1 in the 2026 Paulista group stage at Arena Barueri, then 2-1 in the 2026 Paulista semi back in Barueri.
In the State Championship specifically, Palmeiras are seven unbeaten against São Paulo. That run began with a 4-0 win in the 2022 final and totals four victories and three draws, the second longest in the fixture in the competition, behind a 13-match streak from February 2010 to January 2020.
Arena Barueri has become a reliable stage for the derby, where Palmeiras have never lost to São Paulo. The record there stands at three wins and one draw, including a 2012 Brasileiro draw, league victory in 2025 and Paulista success in 2026, plus this season’s semi-final at the venue.
