Palmeiras set to welcome players back for clash with Flamengo

The Palmeiras trained on Friday afternoon (17th) at the Football Academy, continuing their preparation for the match against Flamengo at 4 PM on Sunday (19th) at Maracanã, for the 29th round of the Brazilian Championship. The squad engaged in tactical drills, rehearsing game situations, and also worked on passing options and marking in a reduced field.

Defender Gustavo Gómez, who only did a regenerative workout on Thursday (16th) after returning from the Paraguayan National Team, joined his teammates on the field. Right-back Khellven, recovering from a foot injury, also participated in the entire session integrated with the group. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Weverton suffered a fracture in his right hand and began conservative treatment under the care of the Health and Performance Center.

Leading the squad in assists this season with 11 goal passes, midfielder Mauricio commented on his personal good form and also the team's – with 61 points, Brazil's Greatest Champion leads the Brasileirão with a three-point advantage over Flamengo, the second-placed team.

“Happy with my moment. Being on the field is always very good, especially because I am helping my teammates, helping the club, it's always very important. Regarding the match at Maracanã, Mauricio stated that he “sees it as a very difficult game.”

“Flamengo has been competing for titles with Palmeiras for some years now, so there is already this rivalry for always competing in the competitions, but we see it as a difficult game, as a game where we have an opportunity to open up an important advantage,” he said.

A friend of defender Bruno Fuchs since they participated in training sessions for the Brazilian National Team in preparation for the 2019 Copa América, he also commented on the goal celebrations with his teammate.
