Palmeiras have cooled their pursuit of Thiago Almada, the ex-Botafogo player, this window after he gave no positive signal during talks.
Nosso Palestra reports that Almada is not prepared to return to South American football at present.
Palmeiras have not sent, and do not intend to send, a proposal to Atlético de Madrid at this stage, although a future move is not ruled out.
The Argentine World Cup winner is valued at 35 million euros (R$ 221 million). Flamengo sounded out a move for Almada but have shifted focus to Lucas Paquetá.
West Ham have accepted a reduced fee to sell Lucas Paquetá to Flamengo and expect 45 million euros (R$ 282 million). The Rio club will meet the London side on Friday 16, with the expectation of a positive conclusion.
