Palmeiras will contest the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals with semi-automatic offside in use, after the CBF confirmed the technology will operate in every tie, with all host stadiums already equipped.
The system made its Brazilian debut on 25 July in the 20th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. It was applied in five incidents, with an average check of 47 seconds, trimming review time and boosting decision accuracy.
Officials present the rollout as a further step that strengthens the competition, increases precision and promotes balance, transparency and trust. Reaching the last eight with the system in place is viewed as meaningful progress for refereeing and Brazilian football.
Six clubs are already through to the quarter-finals, Palmeiras, Vasco, Grêmio, Atlético-MG, Santos and Cruzeiro. The final two places will be settled on Thursday, 6, when Vitória face Athletico-PR at Barradão and Corinthians host Internacional at Neo Química Arena.
Palmeiras’ next off-field date is the quarter-final draw, which the CBF will stage on Tuesday, 11 at 11:00 Brasília time at its Rio de Janeiro headquarters, confirming the match-ups and home advantage for the round.
