Palmeiras’ 2026 Campeonato Paulista triumph has stretched their Abel Ferreira era dominance, taking the tally to 11 trophies against their São Paulo rivals’ combined six. According to Globo.com, the gap has become emphatic since the Portuguese coach arrived.
The win delivered Abel’s 11th title with the club and made him Palmeiras’ most decorated coach, surpassing Oswaldo Brandão’s 10. He took charge in October 2020.
Their haul includes the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2022 and 2023, the Copa Libertadores in 2020 and 2021, the Copa do Brasil in 2020, the Campeonato Paulista in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026, the Recopa Sul-Americana in 2022 and the Supercopa do Brasil in 2023.
Across the same period, Corinthians, São Paulo and Santos have managed six top-flight trophies between them. Santos did not win a first-division title, lifting only Série B in 2024.
São Paulo won the Campeonato Paulista in 2021, the Copa do Brasil in 2023 and the Supercopa do Brasil in 2024. Corinthians matched that return with the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil in 2025, then the Supercopa do Brasil this year.
After the Paulistão, Palmeiras could add further silverware in 2026, with the Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores still to come. Abel’s side therefore have the chance to extend the gap and could, in fact, double their rivals’ combined total.
