Palmer ready to return against Arsenal

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is set to return from injury when the Blues take on Premier League leaders Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The England international has been restricted to just three Premier League appearances this season due to a chronic groin issue — and his frustrations deepened when he fractured his toe after accidentally stubbing it on a door at home. That freak injury ruled him out of last week’s win over Burnley as well as Tuesday’s 3–0 victory over Barcelona.

There was renewed optimism this week, however, with Palmer back in first-team training. The former Manchester City midfielder has been working in a specially designed protective boot to help accelerate his recovery, and Enzo Maresca has confirmed he is available to start against Arsenal.

Chelsea head into the weekend sitting second, six points behind the league leaders, and know that a victory over their London rivals would pull them firmly into the title race.
