Paolo Maldini has accepted the role of technical director of Italy on Saturday, with Leonardo joining as an adviser.
According to L'Équipe, the move was driven by the new president of the Italian federation, Giovanni Malago, who offered Maldini the post.

Leonardo, formerly sporting director at PSG from 2011 to 2013 and 2019 to 2022 and at AC Milan, has been without a role since his second Paris spell.
Maldini and Leonardo will steer the rebuild of the national team, with their first task to choose the next head coach.
Two names already associated with the Nazionale have been mentioned, Roberto Mancini, European champion with Italy in 2021, and Antonio Conte. Mancini is said to be the favourite for the job.
