According to collective reports from Voetbal International, PSV Eindhoven impressed French viewers when visiting Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. Noa Lang, whose excellent low strike gave the Phillips Stadion residents the first-half lead in Paris, even reminded the home media of Kylian Mbappe.

While the 12-time French champions restored parity with an excellent goal from Achraf Hakimi early in the second half, the red and whites proved to be challenging foes and left a lasting impression. L’Equipe wrote about the game:

“After a very difficult victory over Girona (1-0) and a defeat at Arsenal (2-0), PSG really had to win against PSV on Tuesday. (PSV) only needed one good chance via Lang, from a pass by Ismael Saibari. Lang scored in a way that brought back the memory of Kylian Mbappe.”

RMC Sport thought PSV received too much respect in Paris:

“PSV showed almost nothing in the first half hour. But with the first real chance, Lang silenced the Parc des Princes. PSG were lured into a trap due to a lack of efficiency. Since the start of the 2023-24 season, PSG have hit the woodwork 18 times in the Champions League. The highest total of all teams.”

Le Parisien was another that proved quite critical of the evening’s hosts:

“With a bit more luck, PSV could have left with three points. Guus Til must still wonder how he could have missed a huge chance in the sixtieth minute. Moreover, Benitez was not blameless in PSG’s goal.”

On top of scathing reviews, all attackers (Dembele, Lee and Barcola) received a 3/10 for their performance on Tuesday evening. Hakimi, Marquinhos and Willian Pacho were the only ones to score a sufficient 6/10.
