Lucas Paquetá acknowledged his stuttering second spell at Flamengo and pledged to work hard after his misplaced pass preceded Internacional’s opener in Wednesday’s draw, days after a one-on-one miss in the Supercopa defeat to Corinthians.
The midfielder had earlier seen a first-half effort saved by Rochet. His attempted ball to Arrascaeta was cut out, Inter broke and Rafael Santos Borré struck. Paquetá was later substituted, and Arrascaeta levelled from the penalty spot in the second half.
The player said in a post that this was far from the start he had imagined, and he thanked supporters for the welcome back to the Maracanã, calling it special to wear the shirt. He added he would trade anything for a win, that they need to improve and will work hard to win again, and that they count on the fans, giving thanks to God.
Across 64 minutes he registered three shots, one on target. He completed 19 of 28 passes, a 68% rate, missed his only long pass and recorded 44 actions on the ball.
Flamengo are winless in four this season after defeats to Fluminense, São Paulo and Corinthians plus this draw. Paquetá will aim to respond on Saturday 07 when Flamengo face Sampaio Corrêa in the final round of the Carioca group stage, with kick-off at 21:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã.
