Pascal Groß (34) has rejoined Brighton from Borussia Dortmund on a deal that runs until June 2027, according to reports from BBC Sport.
The 34-year-old midfielder returns to the club where he spent seven seasons after leaving for his boyhood side Dortmund 18 months ago. During his first spell at Brighton, Groß made 261 appearances and became one of the most important players in the club’s recent history.
Groß played 66 games for Dortmund, scoring once and providing 17 assists, but has now opted for a return to the Premier League. Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said he was delighted to be working with the experienced midfielder.
“We are really pleased to have Pascal back with us,” Hurzeler said. “He’s a fantastic player and brings great leadership qualities to the group. His experience and ability will be a huge asset in the second half of the season.”
Groß helped Brighton achieve their highest-ever league finish when they ended the 2022-23 season in sixth place and qualified for European football. He scored 30 goals and registered 45 assists in 228 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls.
The Germany international, who has won 16 caps, said goodbye to Brighton fans with a “heavy heart” when he left in 2024, but his return will be warmly welcomed by supporters.
Groß is expected to add experience and calm to Brighton’s midfield as they look to build momentum in the second half of the campaign.
