In his first season at Inter, who visit Sassuolo on Sunday at 18:00, Ange-Yoan Bonny ranks among the top three French attackers for decisive contributions across the big five leagues this season.

According to L'Équipe, his patience, progression and versatility now give Inter their most complete forward option amid competition from Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram and Pio Esposito.

Signed from Parma last summer for €23m, the 22-year-old, capped twice at under-21 level, has put his minutes to good use. Across 1,001 minutes in all competitions he has scored seven and provided five assists, a contribution every 82 minutes. He has already bettered his single-season goal tally.

Among French attackers in the major leagues he trails only Michael Olise, decisive every 73 minutes for Bayern, and Kylian Mbappé, every 62 for Real Madrid.

His shot accuracy has climbed from 35% in his final Parma season to 62% in this first Inter campaign, pointing to sharper finishing. He also offers back-to-goal strength and carries the ball to commit defenders.

Head coach Christian Chivu, who worked with him at Parma last year, has managed his forwards shrewdly, and Bonny has started 10 of his 29 appearances. After a 6-2 win over Pisa on 23 January, Bonny noted he is adapting to the schedule and learning each day, especially alongside fellow Frenchman Thuram. Parma executive Federico Cherubini said recently they asked him to stay last season with a promise to support future opportunities, a stance Bonny appreciated.
