Patrícia Morais says she is a Benfica supporter at heart | OneFootball

"I am a Benfica supporter at heart," said Patrícia Morais, despite having lifted trophies with Sporting.

The 34-year-old Galatasaray goalkeeper, capped 104 times by Portugal, was speaking on Sports Tailors’ Final Cut podcast.

She revealed she once rejected an offer from Benfica when the club launched its women’s team and were in the second division, as she was then at Sporting, which she viewed as the strongest side in Portugal.

Morais made 83 appearances for Sporting between 2016/17 and 2020/21. She later joined Braga before continuing her career abroad.

Now based in Türkiye, she welcomed Marco Silva’s appointment to lead Benfica’s first team and said that if they win the league she will go to Marquês de Pombal to celebrate.
