Patrick Lacey, 32, is among four men charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Huyton, Merseyside.
According to the BBC, the Crosby man, of Manor Avenue, was charged after a man in his 20s was left in a critical condition following an incident on Radway Road in November.
The victim suffered a serious leg injury at about 10.20pm on Friday November 28. Warrants were executed across Knowsley, Sefton and Liverpool yesterday, Thursday February 19, with four people arrested and later charged.
John Jones, 35, of Stamfordham Drive, Allerton, John Hughes, 31, of no fixed abode, and Bernard Flynn, 61, of Knowsley Road, Bootle, are also charged. All four are due at Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and St Helens Adult Remand Court this afternoon, Friday February 20.
They also face counts of conspiracy to murder, possessing a shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life, section 18 grievous bodily harm, and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.
Detective Inspector Chris Clark said the coordinated warrants formed part of an ongoing investigation and urged anyone yet to come forward to do so, including those with dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage.
Lacey began at Tranmere Rovers before academy spells with Manchester United and Liverpool. He later played midfield for Accrington Stanley and Flint Town United, and has also competed in boxing.
