Hansi Flick and most of the FC Barcelona team was left disappointed as they allowed Atletico Madrid to hold them to a draw in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final played at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium last night.

The game started in abysmal fashion for the Blaugranes, as they saw their opponents getting a two-goal lead by the 6th minute.

However, the Catalans launched a good comeback, which was started with a goal from Pedri in the 18th minute. Following this goal, the centre-back Pau Cubarsi scored his first goal with the first team and equalised the scores for his team, on a night that he will go on to remember for a long-time.

But ultimately, the centre-back was left with a bittersweet feeling, which he also expressed to the media. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the La Masia graduate believed the draw was deserved as his team made some clear mistakes at the end of the game:

“We are pissed off about the last ten minutes the team played; we weren’t at our level. We deserved the draw.”

Similarly, the centre-back also explained his celebration, kissing the crest on his shirt, after scoring his first goal for Barcelona last night:

“I was waiting for it, and I kissed the badge because Barça is the club of my life.”

The defender also praised the team for showing the spirit to turn around the score in the first half, while also regretting the weak opening few minutes of the game.

Having gotten only a draw at home, Barcelona will now have a difficult task awaiting them in the second leg, as they will have to beat Atletico Madrid at their home ground, the Metropolitano.

However, there is still a significant amount of time left before this game takes place in April, and hopefully, the Blaugranes will be able to avoid the mistakes they made last night in this second leg.
