Pau Cubarsi gives verdict on Barcelona target Julian Alvarez: ‘We all know how good he is, but…’ | OneFootball

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has become the latest figure at the club to address the growing speculation surrounding Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, a player who continues to be strongly linked with a future move to the Catalan giants.

The Argentine forward remains one of the most talked-about names in the transfer market, with interest in his situation showing no signs of slowing down. 

Despite Atletico Madrid’s firm stance, Barcelona are continuing to monitor the striker closely as they look to strengthen their attacking options for the future.

Amid all the drama and market rumours, Cubarsi was asked about Alvarez during a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo and offered his thoughts on the Atletico Madrid star.

Barcelona remain attentive to Alvarez

Alvarez’s future has attracted considerable attention in recent months, particularly after Atletico Madrid rejected a massive €150 million proposal from Real Madrid for the Argentine international.

The rejection sent a clear message regarding Atletico’s intentions. The Madrid-based club view Alvarez as one of the cornerstones of their project and have shown little desire to entertain offers, especially from direct domestic rivals.

Despite those difficulties, Barcelona have not abandoned hope of one day bringing the former Manchester City forward to Camp Nou.

However, as things stand, convincing the Madrid club to negotiate remains far more complicated than convincing the player himself.

Cubarsi shares his opinion

During his interview with Mundo Deportivo, Cubarsi was asked for his view on Alvarez and whether he pays attention to the speculation linking the striker with Barcelona.

The defender made it clear that he rates the Argentine highly while also choosing to focus on the players currently available to the club.

“He’s a spectacular player, as I’ve already said. We all know how good he is. 

“There are plenty of rumours, as there are every summer, but I’m sticking with the players we have now: Ferran and Gordon, who’s just joined us,” he stated.

For now, Alvarez remains an Atletico Madrid player, but the fact that his name continues to be linked with Barcelona suggests the admiration inside the club has not faded. 

As long as that remains the case, speculation surrounding one of Europe’s most complete forwards is unlikely to disappear anytime soon.
