Paul Joyce Reveals Liverpool Are ‘Irritated’ By Latest Transfer Offer

Inter Milan’s interest in Curtis Jones began all the way back in January when the Italians pursued a late move in that window.

The midfielder, who was frustrated by his lack of opportunities under Arne Slot, was open to the move.

Now with just one year remaining on his deal, Inter are on the hunt again and have now submitted their second offer to Liverpool for his services.

Paul Joyce of The Times have provided more detail on the developments, including Liverpool’s stance on the pursuit.

Inter Launch Second Offer for Jones

According to Joyce, Inter have submitted their second offer for Jones, worth £21.7m, and it has massively failed.

“Liverpool have grown increasingly irritated by Inter’s long-running pursuit of Curtis Jones and have shut down talks unless they significantly improve their offer, currently showing no indication of going above £21.7m.”

Liverpool’s hierarchy refuse to accept such an offer, especially with how inflated the market for midfielders is this summer. Players like AFC Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and West Ham United’s Matheus Fernandes are valued at £80m, whilst Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is valued at £100m.

They believe that it would be an uphill battle to replace Jones with just £21m, therefore any deal is off for now. Liverpool are continuing to stick to their £35m valuation of the player.

Joyce also pointed out that there are no active talks to extend Jones’ contract at Anfield, but that could change should the 25-year-old impress Andoni Iraola when pre-season begins next month.
