Chelsea host Wolves in the Premier League on Monday night at Stamford Bridge and Paul Merson has given his prediction for the game.

The Blues are on a difficult run of form and Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth means it’s now five games without a win for Enzo Maresca’s men.

Chelsea started the season so well , but have now dropped to fifth in the league a point behind Newcastle, although with the Magpies losing to Bournemouth on Saturday a win would see the Blues return to the top four.

Merson makes Chelsea vs Wolves prediction

The Blues have struggled at home this season and have won just four of their ten matches at Stamford Bridge, and Maresca feels they try and play too quickly at Stamford Bridge at times.

Chelsea are sweating on the fitness of Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, Enzo Fernandez and Levi Colwill who all missed training on Friday and being without any of them would be a huge blow.

Maresca’s side won the reverse fixture 6-2 at Molineux back in August, and with Wolves hovering just outside the relegation zone in 17th, it’s a game the Blues should be winning.

Chelsea have missed so many chances in their last five games and both Maresca and the supporters will be hoping the attackers have their shooting boots on.

Stamford Bridge is bound to be nervy before kick-off, and Merson has labelled this as a must win game for Maresca’s men.

“Wolves have gone back to being where they were before,” he told Sportskeeda as cited on X.com.

“They did enjoy a bit of a run but that has now stopped. If Chelsea play anywhere near like how they played in the first half against Bournemouth, they will be easy winners.

“Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Wolves.”

If the Blues want to qualify for the Champions League then they really have to be winning games like this, but Wolves will make it difficult and they were 4-2 winners in this fixture last season, with it unlikely to be an easy evening.
