Paul Pogba jumps to defence of Real Madrid star | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has over the last 24 hours received the backing of fellow countryman Paul Pogba.

This comes with the former continuing to come in for regular criticism, despite a hugely productive first season in Spain.

Mbappé for his part secured his long-awaited move to Real Madrid last summer, following the expiration of his contract terms with Paris Saint-Germain.

And after something of a shaky start, the 26-year-old soon rediscovered the kind of goalscoring form which had given rise to Los Blancos’ keen interest in his services in the first place.

All told, across 59 appearances in all competitions in 2024/25, Mbappé racked up 49 direct goal contributions.

And as alluded to above, one player of the opinion that such figures mean Mbappé deserves respect, is fellow countryman Paul Pogba.

Speaking during a live stream held by popular streamer IShowSpeed, Pogba explained:

“Mbappé has been criticized for everything, but he’s the Pichichi, top scorer in Europe. It’s hard for me to say, but I respect him.”
