Paul Pogba has revisited his Manchester United spell, saying José Mourinho, now Benfica manager, quickly puts players back in line if they try to impose themselves.

"If he sees you acting important, he will put you straight in your place," Pogba said on The Bridge, Aurélien Tchouaméni’s podcast.

Despite the friction, the Monaco midfielder drew a line between personal and professional matters and said there was no hatred. "I did not mind not being the star, I just wanted to win, play, dribble, score a few goals, do a few dances," he added.

Pogba noted that, although their conflicts at Old Trafford came between 2016 and 2018, he still respects Mourinho and believes the coach has not changed. "We laugh about it now, and with him things are what they are. He is still like that," he said.

In April, Pogba also reflected on how the dynamic may have been affected by outside noise. "Because the media were always asking him about me, maybe he was a bit like, ‘OK, enough’," he said on Rio Ferdinand Presents.
