Paul Pogba’s lawyer Rafaela Pimenta reveals receiving threats from Mathias Pogba | OneFootball

The extortion case related to former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and his brothers has seen a new twist, with Pogba’s lawyer Rafaela Pimenta adding her account to the story.

A report from Le Journal du Dimanche claims that the Brazilian representative of the Frenchman lodged a complaint against Pogba’s elder brother Mathias on August 16 after receiving “conditional threats” in the form of text messages.

According to the 49-year-old, she received a long blackmail message from Mathias two days before facing the investigators from the Central Office for Combating Organised Crime (OCLCO) in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine).

The message, as per the report, contained Mathias’ call for help and the threat to spoil the career of Pimenta, who revealed:

“It’s been about a month since Paul told me the story.  He told me that about four months ago, he was robbed in Paris. This refers to the episode of 19 March, when the international midfielder, on the sidelines of a French team gathering, was led into a flat by childhood friends. He felt like he was in a court of law because they accused him of many things.”

She continued:

“They told him they had evidence that Paul was doing black magic. And they threatened him ‘to tell the press to tarnish his image’.”

Without mentioning Kylian Mbappé in her account, Pimenta went on to discuss the topic on the marabout:

“Paul does not hide from it, he made donations to a wise man, for prayers and to send food to Africa.”

Elaborating on the threats received from Mathias Pogba on August 14, Pimenta added:

“Mathias sent me a threatening message. If Paul doesn’t pay, he will go to the press to defame Paul, me, my company, Mino (Raiola).”

Mathias Pogba and his four other confidants, including relatives of the siblings, were imprisoned in mid-September. “I want the best for Paul,” Pimenta concluded her statement, voicing her support for the 2018 World Cup-winning midfielder.
