Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is of the opinion that the club will need to sign two more attackers this summer once a deal for Bryan Mbeumo is over the line.

On Sunday, Man United confirmed that Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha signed for the club.

Today, The Peoples Person relayed that United are only intensifying their transfer efforts after Cunha’s arrival, entering direct talks with Brentford to secure a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

Still, even with so much progress, Scholes believes that United need even more reinforcements if they are to compete at the highest level next season.

“I think Osimhen (free to leave Napoli for a £60m fee this summer), it sounds like a doable one,” Scholes stated on The Overlap Fan Debate.

“When you talk about financial problems, he could be doable,” he continued, referring to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Then, Scholes expressed a highly controversial opinion regarding United’s struggling striker Rasmus Hojlund.

“I’d keep Hojlund. I know he’s not been great, but he’s a 22-year-old kid playing on his own for Man United the last two years,” Scholes stated, drawing shock from the fans in attendance.

“He’s had to play every week; he is the only one. Man Utd should have at least three top centre forwards. I’d have him and Osimhen. Him, Osimhen and [Viktor] Gyokeres.”

“Hojlund has struggled like mad, but he’s not had the chance to sit down and watch. If a striker is not playing well, a manager will tell him, ‘Just come back and have a look. Get a feel for the game.’ We all know he has centre forward quality. Not enough, but if he has experience around him… he’s been flogged to death,” Scholes concluded.

Last week, United reportedly entered talks with Napoli over Osimhen’s signature.

While Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres remains firmly on United’s radar, rising interest from competing clubs threatens to derail United’s transfer plans if they don’t act fast.

Although Scholes’ view on Hojlund may divide opinion among the United fanbase, he certainly has a point regarding the need to sign more attackers.

Even with high-profile signings such as Cunha and Mbeumo in the pipeline, United will need squad depth as relying on a few players can be a risky strategy, particularly if Amorim is serious about a rebuild.
