Sky Germany reports that on-loan Bayern Munich forward Paul Wanner could potentially leave the club next summer if he is not given the prospect of playing time over the next two years.
Wanner is currently on loan at Heidenheim and his time at the club has so far been a success. The 18-year-old is expected to return to his parent club in the summer and wants to become part of the first team, but if he is not given a pathway he will likely try and leave.
It has previously been reported that Wanner could be used as a makeweight for Bayern if they try and pursue Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz next summer.
This then begs the question, if Bayern see Wanner as good enough to send to rivals Leverkusen as part of a deal for Wirtz then why shouldn’t Bayern just keep Wanner and focus on other areas of their squad they need to improve on, instead of spending what will be A LOT of money on Wirtz.
It is also reported that Wanner is unlikely to receive a call-up to the German national team this year and as things currently stand, he is more likely to be called up in the March international break next year.
