Pavlidis struck four as Benfica thrashed St. Gallen 5-0 to seal progress to the third qualifying round of the Europa League, yet António Raminhos chose to spotlight centre-back António Silva.

According to Glorioso 1904, the comedian praised Silva’s display, mixing humour with approval. He likened Benfica to a relative making slow progress in hospital and said Silva was a commanding presence.

The St. Gallen outing may prove to be Silva’s last for the club. The Portugal international was seen at Cascais Airport in Tires on Friday morning before flying to London, and he did not speak to reporters.

After the final whistle, Silva stayed on the pitch for several minutes to bid farewell to supporters, a symbolic moment. Later, Marco Silva confirmed the player is leaving, adding the decision had already been taken by the defender.

Benfica now face Hearts in the next round. The first leg is at Estádio da Luz on 6 August, with the return on 13 August in Scotland.
