Stoke City beat Swansea City 2-1 on Saturday to rise from eighth to sixth in the Championship play-off race.
After a tight opening, Ben Pearson broke through in the 42nd minute with a right-footed strike from outside the box into the top left corner.
Sorba Thomas doubled the advantage (60.), sweeping in Bae Jun-Ho's cross from the left.
Swansea hit back when substitute Melker Widell delivered for Zan Vipotnik to finish from the centre (77.), setting up a tense finale.
Viktor Johansson made key stops to deny Swansea's aerial threat, including from Cameron Burgess, as Stoke protected their lead. Lawrence Vigouroux also stood tall for the visitors, saving well from Million Manhoef and Bae.
Stoke registered nine attempts, with five on target. Swansea enjoyed 59.5% possession and produced 14 attempts.
Next, Stoke visit Watford. Swansea host Wrexham.
