Pedri issues fitness update ahead of Barcelona return | OneFootball

Pedri has issued a statement over his Euro 2024 injury heartbreak and his expected return to fitness back at Barcelona.

The La Blaugrana schemer will miss the remainder of the tournament after suffering a knee sprain in the quarter final win over hosts Germany.

Pedri was injured by a poor tackle from Toni Kroos for which the retiring former Real Madrid star has since apologised for.

However, despite his frustration at missing the semi final, and potentially the final, Pedri is upbeat over his recovery.

He is expected to remain with the squad for the final week of the competition before heading back to Barcelona to continue his rehabilitation.

The 21-year-old has now offered an update on the situation as he looks ahead to the 2024/25 domestic season.

“This week I will be cheering on the Spain team. I want to thank the fans for their support, it has been incredible”, he posted on social media.

“The hardest moment has passed and the road back has already begun, to be back at full speed at Barcelona soon.”

No confirmed timeframe has been placed on his return, but he is expected to miss the majority of preseason at Barcelona, with a possible recall at the end of August.
