During a recent interview with DJMario (h/t SPORT), former Real Madrid left-back and club legend Marcelo was asked to name one FC Barcelona player he would like to sign for the Merengues.
And the former Brazilian international opted to select Barcelona superstar Pedri over attacking sensation Lamine Yamal, stating that while the 18-year-old winger might be the popular choice, he felt the midfielder would be a better signing.
“Right now, I would sign Pedri for Real Madrid. He has Madrid qualities. Everyone would say Lamine, but I think Pedri would be a better signing,” said Marcelo.
Interestingly, there was a scenario wherein Pedri could have ended up playing for Real Madrid. The midfield superstar was called for a trial at the Spanish capital club during his youth football days, but they ended up rejecting him.

It turned out to be great for Barcelona as they were able to sign Pedri from Las Palmas, and now he is one of the best footballers in the world.
Meanwhile, Marcelo also named Barcelona legend Lionel Messi as one of the toughest opponents he had faced in his career, while also giving his take on the Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo debate.
“Messi was very tough. Jesús Navas also made it very difficult for me, and I found Xabi Prieto very difficult to defend against too. Pedrito was also very good,” said Marcelo.
“I’ll always go with Cristiano. Messi is incredible. We’ve enjoyed both of them, well, I’ve only enjoyed one. I’m a die-hard Cristiano fan,” the Real Madrid legend acknowledged.
