There has been some frustration among Barcelona supporters regarding their lack of transfer business this summer, especially when compared to arch rivals Real Madrid. Anthony Gordon is the only player to arrive at the Spotify Camp Nou so far, whereas Los Blancos have closed deals for Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva.

However, Barcelona are relaxed about the situation, and that has been put into words by star midfielder Pedri, who admitted to Sport that he is unbothered about the business that is being done at the Bernabeu.

“No, I’m not scared. After two years without winning, it is normal that they want to strengthen themselves and try to change things. I see it as totally logical that they want to strengthen themselves and try to change things.”

Pedri: “Who doesn’t like Julian Alvarez?”

On the topic of Barcelona’s transfer business, Pedri was asked about the Catalan club’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez. However, he refused to say much out of respect for the Atletico Madrid striker, whom he could face in the 2026 World Cup final if both Spain and Argentina get there – a result that he hopes will become a reality.

“Of course, who doesn’t like him? He is a world-class player. We’ll see what happens with his future.”

On the World Cup, Pedri remains confident that Spain can win the tournament for the second time in their history. However, he is aware that all of the matches they play will be very tricky, and both he and his international teammates are only focused on the upcoming quarter-final showdown against Belgium.

“From the beginning we said that we were coming to win it. They pointed us out as favourites and we had no problem accepting it. We are aware that we are doing very well, but from now on no one is going to give us anything.”
