Vasco president Pedrinho has acknowledged that a deal for Brian Rodríguez is beyond the club’s current finances, adding they have not opened formal talks with América do México because of the price.
According to PaponaColina, América do México want between US$14 million and US$15 million for the 26-year-old, and are unlikely to entertain talks unless bids reach that level.
Pedrinho said the fee sits above what Vasco would like to pay. He noted they have not abandoned the idea entirely, but described the pursuit as difficult. He added that the values exceed what the club can commit under judicial oversight.
With that in mind, the hierarchy are already turning to other market options that fit within the financial ceiling set by the current management.
At head coach Pedro Emanuel’s request, the club are mapping attacking targets with pace and dribbling to lift the squad for the remainder of the Campeonato Brasileiro and forthcoming knockout ties.
