Vasco president Pedrinho has been given a 15-day suspension by the STJD after the 3-3 draw with Cruzeiro at Mineirão on 15 March.
According to Globo.com, he is barred from attending matches, entering the dressing room on matchdays and travelling with the squad during the ban.
He was initially only warned for complaints to referee Lucas Paulo Torezin last Thursday, after which the STJD appealed. Prosecutors said his remarks crossed acceptable limits, arguing that claims of repeated prejudice implied bias by the official.
Vasco’s lawyers challenged the short window to respond, noting the appeal arrived after 22:00 on Friday and that the three days from Monday would end on the day of Wednesday’s hearing. They also filed the referee’s police statement in Belo Horizonte, in which he said he did not feel offended.
The penalty begins on Friday, so he can resume all duties from one May, a Friday. He remains able to work at the club day to day.
He will miss every fixture in April, including next Tuesday’s Copa do Brasil fourth-phase trip to Paysandu in Belém.
The ban covers 18/04, São Paulo at São Januário in the Brasileirão, and 21/04, Paysandu at Mangueirão in the Copa do Brasil.
It also includes 26/04, Corinthians at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileirão, and 30/04, Olimpia at São Januário in the Copa Sudamericana.
He can return to stadiums for the Flamengo derby on three May.
