Pedrinho meets Rio City Hall over Vasco CT expansion and São Januário development rights | OneFootball

Pedrinho met Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Cavaliere on Thursday to discuss strategic matters for Vasco, notably the expansion of CT Moacyr Barbosa and plans tied to São Januário’s redevelopment.

According to Globo.com, the club is pursuing a modernisation of its training centre, a flagship aim of Pedrinho’s tenure, after concern over the lack of 777 Partners investment.

The agreement moving the SAF sale to Marcos Lamacchia sets out R$ 120 million for the CT, potentially spread across 10 years, to fund land expansion and continued upgrades.

Recent works include a new wet area and refurbishments to rooms and dressing rooms at the facility.

Talks also covered the sale of the club’s potencial construtivo, seen as vital to the São Januário revamp. Mid last year an exclusivity deal with SOD Capital targeted use of those rights in Barra da Tijuca.

The insurer received three deadline extensions but no deal was formalised, with the final window closing on 13 February this year.

With the sale pending, work at São Januário is on hold. In late July, vice-president general Renato Brito left the brief, now handled by a working group led by General Assembly president Alan Belaciano.

Since then, Pedrinho has met Eduardo Paes, the Rio de Janeiro mayor, along with politicians and representatives of other companies and insurers to present the project. Vasco has opened a tender for new bidders, valued at more than R$ 500 million, but progress remains limited.
