Vasco president Pedrinho mocked Flamengo counterpart Bap after the Copa do Brasil draw, amid escalating debate over the club’s proposed SAF sale. Vasco are in talks with businessman Marcos Lamacchia regarding a potential deal for control of its SAF.

Bap criticised the prospect of Lamacchia, stepson of Palmeiras president Leila Pereira, entering Vasco. “The problem is being married to one and wanting to marry another. Under the civil code, you need to separate from the first,” he said, adding, “You cannot have one foot in each club, it is against the law,” he told Charla Podcast.

Pedrinho countered that Vasco are following procedures to the letter and that critics speak without knowing. He argued their own track records contradict their claims and advised them to focus on their own clubs rather than Vasco.

He added that Vasco have plenty to resolve and he will not heed presidents meddling in matters outside their remit. Naming Bap, Pedrinho said the Flamengo chief “has a crazy passion for Vasco” and that he is beginning to think Bap is a Vasco fan.

Vasco are willing to sell 90% of their SAF shares, with a minimum R$ 650 million investment over the next five years. Almirante Participações e Empreendimentos S.A., Lamacchia’s company, is currently leading the negotiations.

Flamengo have asked ANRESF, the football regulation and sustainability agency, to examine the proposal, citing the risk of one club influencing another in breach of the Financial Sustainability System, SSF. Lamacchia is the son of Crefisa owner Roberto Lamacchia, who is married to Leila Pereira.
