Enzo Maresca has provided an update on the fitness of Pedro Neto after the winger missed Chelsea’s trip to Azerbaijan in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Maresca confirmed Neto had a minor issue, and in his absence Chelsea were held to a disappointing 2-2 draw against Qarabag.

Estevao starred once again, whilst Alejandro Garnacho also scored, but Jamie Gittens couldn’t make the most of the opportunity given to him, and he was substituted at half time.

Enzo Maresca provides Pedro Neto update

Neto has been a mainstay in the Chelsea side this season, and has made 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and registering two assists.

The Portugal international has started all ten of Chelsea’s Premier League games, and is clearly a player Maresca likes and trusts.

Jose Mourinho hailed Neto as one of the best wingers in the world before the Blues played Benfica in the Champions League last month.

Chelsea face Neto’s former club Wolves on Saturday evening, and Maresca has provided an update on his fitness ahead of the game.

“Pedro, he had a session yesterday with the physio outside in the pitch, it was good, and today he will train with us and then we’ll take the final decision,” he told his pre-match press conference.

Estevao continues to impress

Neto may have started every league game this season, but Estevao has arguably been Chelsea’s most impressive winger.

The 18-year-old is Chelsea’s joint top scorer this season with four goals in all competitions, and has now scored twice in his debut Champions League campaign.

Maresca has revealed Estevao is now ready to start back to back games, and it will be interesting if he gets selected against Wolves having played 90 minutes against Qarabag in the Champions League in midweek.
