Joao Pedro has insisted that Chelsea believe the club can turn around their Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
Chelsea conceded two late goals in the first meeting in Paris to fall to a 5-2 defeat at the Parc des Princes. The three-goal deficit leaves the Blues with a huge task against the holders, who arrive in West London as heavy favourites to progress.
Despite the deficit, Pedro has said there is confidence within the Chelsea camp. He pointed to the club’s 3-0 win over PSG in the Club World Cup final as an example of what the side can do with belief.
Speaking to the media on Monday, he said: “I think this week was difficult for us. We know our strengths, we still believe because we showed in the Club World Cup when we won 3-0. The group believe, the manager believes, the fans should believe as well.”
Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior backed the forward’s comments but admits his team must be flawless to recover the tie.
“If you look at the game in isolation and the scoreline, we were punished by very good players for our own mistakes.
“We have been undone in games by those moments. We can’t make mistakes tomorrow.
“We have to remember PSG are European champions for a reason but we know we can compete.”
