Pedro Neto has been fined £70,000 and given a one-match ban for unsporting conduct following his red card in Chelsea’s Premier League defeat against Arsenal earlier this month, according to L'Équipe.

The forward received two bookings inside three minutes, the first for dissent after an Arsenal goal and the second for a foul on Gabriel Martinelli. He was dismissed in the 70th minute as Chelsea lost 2-1 to the league leaders.

He was accused of failing to leave the pitch immediately and/or using abusive language towards the match officials after the dismissal. Neto admitted the charge.

It was Chelsea’s ninth red card of the season in all competitions.

Neto will miss Saturday’s match against Newcastle United. The Portuguese winger also faces a UEFA disciplinary case after shoving a ball boy during Wednesday’s 5-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
