Flamengo won the Campeonato Carioca on Sunday, defeating Fluminense on penalties, and Pedro addressed his relationship with former coach Filipe Luís during the celebrations.
"Our relationship is fine. I went to Filipe's office and we cleared the air, it was the best way for us to talk and forgive. It ended very well, there were difficult moments and his decisions, but it finished in the best way possible," Pedro said. He was speaking to SporTV.
"We played together and we won things, him as coach and me as a player. It ended well, a respectful relationship day to day. Without any doubt it was a lesson for both of us, he is starting as a coach and will have a successful career, that is what I wish for him."
Relations had been strained last year. In July, Filipe publicly criticised the striker’s training standards, citing a breach of the squad’s training culture and GPS data that put him last across metrics, and he left Pedro out after a win over São Paulo.
Pedro was not an automatic starter under Filipe, who often used Bruno Henrique and Gonzalo Plata in adapted roles.
Flamengo now turn to the Brasileirão, with Leonardo Jardim’s side hosting Cruzeiro at the Maracanã on Wednesday 11 at 21:30 Brasília time in round five.
