Chelsea will entertain Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge this Sunday as they look to secure a good result at home in the Premier League. The Blues managed to earn a solid 2-0 win over Luton Town in the EFL Cup recently, which should keep them in good spirits going into this game.

Xabi Alonso will set his team up in a 3-4-2-1 formation and is expected to make a few changes to his first team for this clash. Joao Pedro could get the nod to lead the line for the Blues once again up top.

Defence

Robert Sanchez will probably feature in goal for Chelsea despite shipping in a couple of goals in the opening weekend of this Premier League campaign. Alonso could name a back three of Levi Colwill, Maxence Lacroix and Josh Acheampong as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.

Pep Chavarria will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Reece James and Romeo Lavia will anchor the midfield for the West London club as they focus on making life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park and creating some decent chances on the offensive end of the field.

Malo Gusto will try to catch the eye as the left-sided wide player, while Jorrel Hato looks to prove his worth on the right flank. Both of them will have to make some overlapping runs out in the wide positions.

Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer will operate as Alonso’s free-flowing attacking midfielders. They would have to carry most of the creative burden for the Blues in the final third.

Valentin Barco and Estevao will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second half if needed.

Joao Pedro will spearhead Chelsea’s attack up top. He managed to score against Fulham recently, which should give him a lot of confidence going into this game.

Danny Welbeck will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if the Blues are in need of a goal by then.
