Bad news for Gian Piero Gasperini.

The number 7 has suffered a grade-II tear to his left hamstring.

The attacking midfielder is expected to be available to the coach within three or four weeks, but in the meantime, the manager will have to redesign his lineup.

The player will be forced to withdraw from the match on Monday, December 29th, against Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa. He will then miss the matches against Atalanta on January 3rd, Lecce on the 6th, and Sassuolo on the 10th.

He will be absent from the Coppa Italia debut against Torino and the league match against Marco Baroni’s team scheduled for January 18th.

Depending on the evolution of his medical condition, he could be doubtful for the Europa League match against Stuttgart scheduled for the 22nd and for the big match against AC Milan on January 25th.

Barring complications, the player is expected to return for the match against Panathinaikos, scheduled four days after the match against AC Milan.

The prolonged absence of the Giallorossi number 7 could lead the club to speed up the offensive incoming operations. Roma’s two big targets for the winter transfer window are now known: Giacomo Raspadori, currently playing for Atletico Madrid, and Joshua Zirkzee.
