Pep Chavarria ‘to join’ Chelsea in €25m deal

Left-back Pep Chavarria is expected to sign for Chelsea from Rayo Vallecano. The 28-year-old Spaniard is closing in on a move to England.

Marca reports that Chelsea and Rayo Vallecano have agreed a €25m fee plus bonuses, with only minor details to finalise, and that the Blues have convinced the Spanish club to waive a €50m release clause.

Chavarria is coming off a strong season, featuring in 44 matches in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing three assists. He also reached the Conference League final with the Madrid club.

He extended his contract until 2030 last summer.

He is understood to be in London to complete the move and is expected to replace Marc Cucurella, who has joined Real Madrid.
