Pep Guardiola has provided a fitness update before Saturday evening’s trip to Leeds United, confirming Jeremy Doku has returned to training. The Belgian winger is back after a calf injury sustained against Galatasaray at the end of January, though his comeback date remains unclear.

Last week Guardiola said Doku was not ready to face Newcastle United. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, he was not pictured in the club’s training gallery from Wednesday’s session.

Guardiola added that Doku completed a first session on Thursday, and that they will consult the doctors and officials to determine when he might return to action.

City remain without longer term absentees Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic. Young centre-back Max Alleyne also missed the Newcastle match after a knock in the FA Cup tie at home to Salford City earlier this month, going off in the 22nd minute. He was, however, shown doing gym work in the club’s images.

Winger Savinho had been sidelined with a quad issue from the goalless draw at Sunderland on New Year’s Day. The 21-year-old was named on the bench against Newcastle but did not come on.
