Pep Guardiola holds talks over Italy manager’s job | OneFootball

Barcelona and Spanish icon Pep Guardiola recently sat down for a round of discussions regarding the vacant managerial post of the Italian national team.

This comes amid the understanding that the Azzurri are actively pushing to bring the tactician back to Italy.

Guardiola, for his part, is fresh off bringing a close to his legendary stint on the bench of Premier League heavyweights Manchester City.

After a decade at The Etihad, the expectation, in turn, was that the 55-year-old would now take a well-deserved break from the game to recharge his batteries.

As alluded to above, however, Guardiola is now a man in demand once more…

As revealed by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky, amid an ongoing search for a replacement for Gennaro Gattuso following another failed World Cup qualification campaign:

‘Pep Guardiola is no longer just a dream for the Italian national team. As Peppe Di Stefano told Sky Sport, Paolo Maldini and Leonardo spent last weekend in Barcelona and met with the Spanish coach.

‘According to Sky, the meeting presumably continued throughout the weekend.’
