Pep Guardiola hailed Adama Traore as an unstoppable force after Manchester City came from behind to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Whites took the lead through Andreas Pereira in the first half, but Mateo Kovacic levelled matters soon after. The Croat struck again just after the interval to put the visitors ahead.

With eight minutes remaining Jeremy Doku extended their lead, but impact substitute Rodrigo Muniz scored late on to create a nervy finish for Man City.

Throughout the game the Premier League champions were unable to get a handle on Traore, who missed three big chances, including one that could have put Fulham 2-0 up.

Guardiola was fully aware of the threat the Spain international poses, having lost back-to-back matches to Wolves in 2019 when the winger scored three goals over both games.

“When you have a player like Adama in the transitions no one can stop him, so powerful and strong,” he told BBC Match of the Day.

“We started really well, created two chances in two minutes and immediately after they hit on the transition; with Adama, Iwobi, all the other players they have they are always so dangerous.

“We played some decent, good moments and in some other ones they were better than us. Ederson made some incredible saves.”

The 3-2 defeat is Fulham’s first in the Premier League since losing to Manchester United on the opening day, illustrating just how good they have started the campaign under Marco Silva in the manager’s fourth season at the helm.

“After the Champions League it is tough to face such a tough side, Fulham is an incredible team,” Guardiola said.

“Marco has been there so many years already and they bought in some very talented and experienced players [in the summer]. We knew that and knew it would be tough but we won.”
