Pep Guardiola gives an update on Rayan Aït-Nouri's injury

Pep Guardiola provides update on Rayan Aït-Nouri
Algerian left-back Rayan Aït-Nouri will have to wait a little longer before returning to action with Manchester City. Although he had rejoined full training and was included in the squad for the Champions League trip to Villarreal, Pep Guardiola ultimately decided not to rush his comeback. The Catalan coach will likely not use him against Aston Villa today, in the ninth round of the Premier League. At best, the defender could get a few minutes at the end of the match, if the game situation allows and the staff deem him fit enough.
Speaking at a press conference, the Spanish manager confirmed that his left-back has not yet fully recovered from the ankle injury he suffered at the end of August. "The players who didn't face Villarreal are still unavailable," Guardiola said, making it clear he does not want to take any risks ahead of a crucial run of fixtures.Out of action for nearly two months now, Aït-Nouri continues his rehabilitation program under the supervision of the medical staff. While his return to group training is an encouraging sign, the club's doctors prefer to wait for a complete recovery to avoid any setbacks.
The 24-year-old defender, who joined from Wolverhampton this summer, had made a promising start to the season in his new colours before this setback. His prolonged absence remains a source of frustration, especially as he was hoping to cement his place in City's hierarchy. Until his full return, Guardiola and his staff are taking a patient and cautious approach.
