Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is one of the best ever coaches this game has seen. His time at FC Barcelona is fondly remembered as he gave the entire world not just one of the best Barcelona teams in history but one of the best club teams ever seen.
The Guardiola era at Barcelona is as good as it ever gets. He had the rub of the green with the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, and Gerard Pique just entering the prime of their careers, and of course, the magician – Lionel Messi.
Pep always remains grateful to the fact that he had a great team when managing Barcelona which helped him get the best out of them. The Catalan tactician never missed the chance to praise Messi, even recently making the ‘monster vs father of that monster’ comment about the Argentinian.
For a long time now until the beginning of this season, Barcelona have tried to recreate the magic from the Guardiola era only to fail miserably. This has often prompted calls from fans for Guardiola to return to his home, although Pep has refused it at every given opportunity.
Now, as revealed by SPORT, in the documentary series “El nou clam”, in a short clip shared, Guardiola is asked,
“After so many years, isn’t it time to come back, Pep?”
The 53-year-old did not say anything but was seen giving a shy smile. The full reaction is set to release on Thursday which would give us further insight into whether Guardiola actually said something to this question or a smile was all he could offer.
Currently, the Barcelona managerial job is not open. Hansi Flick is doing an incredible job as the manager of the club so far this season and his team is ranking among one of the very best in Europe so far, based on underlying numbers.
While every Cule will continue to dream of a return for Pep Guardiola, it is currently the time to focus on Hansi Flick’s era more than anything else. The German is building something special here at the club and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
