Peterborough part ways with manager Luke Williams | OneFootball

Peterborough United have parted company with manager Luke Williams following Saturday’s disappointing 2-0 home defeat by Doncaster Rovers, a result which left Posh second from bottom of League One.

Williams had been in charge for 11 months, overseeing 47 competitive matches. Peterborough won 17 of those games but suffered 20 defeats, with their recent league form proving decisive. They have managed just two victories in their last 22 League One fixtures and have won only once in seven matches this season.

The defeat to Doncaster, who began the day at the foot of the table, was Peterborough’s third in a five-game winless league run. They are now just one point above bottom club Wigan Athletic.

Williams, 45, initially made a positive impression after replacing Darren Ferguson but struggled to find consistency with a young squad. His recent comments in interviews had also frustrated supporters, with boos greeting the team at half-time and full-time on Saturday.

There was one notable success during his tenure, as Peterborough reached the Carabao Cup fourth round after beating Barnsley on penalties.
