She was also given the nod to start for the United States in their 1-0 win over Canada Women in the She Believes Cup.

Tullis-Joyce kept a clean sheet for her side and made one save in the match to keep the Canadians out.

The goalkeeper also showed fantastic ability with her feet, finishing the match with a highly impressive pass accuracy of 95%.

The 29-year-old also won her only ground duel and tackle in an impressive display.

She will next be in action for the Red Devils in the League Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday, 15th March.

Simi Awujo

Tullis-Joyce was not United’s only interest in the match, as Canadian youngster Awujo also started for her country.

This has been a big season for the 22-year-old, but United fans will be worried that she had to leave the pitch in the 37th minute of the match.

With United facing big league, cup and Champions League matches this month, international injuries are a headache they could do without.

Awujo completed 86% of her passes and forced her teammate in the American goal into a stop with a shot on target. She also had another effort that was blocked by the US defence.

The Canadian was also in good form defensively, winning both her ground duels before having to be cruelly forced off.

Hinata Miyazawa

Earlier in the day, Miyazawa played for Japan in their 2-0 win over Chinese Taipei.

She was brought on for the final 23 minutes of the match, completing 69% of her passes.
