The Scottish manager, who did not even last a full season at the helm of the 20-time English league champions, will be keen to send a message to his former employers with a big result.

Former United star Phil Jones, who had played under Moyes during that turbulent 2013/14 season, said during the Inside Carrington podcast that he knew exactly how his former boss would set up in the upcoming game.

Moyes’ game plan

“Yeah, I think you know how a David Moyes team, Everton’s going to set up. It will be a low block, disciplined, well-structured out of possession and try and hit United on those counters.”

The ex-England centre-back was sure Amorim would employ the perfect gameplan to break the Merseyside outfit down.

“And I think it’s up to, and I’m sure Ruben will work on that during the week, that it’s up to Man United now to make sure the rest offence is spot on and sustain in attacks and try and break the low block down and be creative in the final third.”

Regarding what the players should do against what will possibly be a resolute Everton side, Phil Jones explained the Red Devils need runners if they are break a low block.

Phil Jones demands runners to break Everton down

“You have to shift the ball really quickly from side to side. And if it’s staggered and it’s slow and laboured, then you’re not going to shift them.

“And I also think it’s important to have people who want to run beyond the ball, even in a low block. People think if you’re in a low block, then it’s okay to try and occupy little different positions in the pitch.

“You still have to have people who want to go beyond the ball, because then that sort of dislikes, you know, if a number 10 is running to the edge of the box, the centre-half’s got to go with him. So, it creates space for other people.”

Hopefully, United can keep their five-match unbeaten run going on November 24. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 8pm.
