The Red Dragons are enjoying a strong first half of the Championship season following their promotion from League One.

The Welsh outfit are in their first campaign back at this level since 1982, having earned three consecutive promotions in the last three years.

Their most recent promotion led to a hectic summer of heavy spending, with additions such as Callum Doyle, Nathan Broadhead, Ben Sheaf and Lewis O’Brien, to name a few.

In total, Wrexham signed 12 new players to the first team squad on a permanent basis, along with the arrival of Issa Kaboré on loan from Manchester City. Their spending sat around £30m.

Parkinson has suggested that Wrexham will keep an open mind regarding potential signings, as they would be willing to move for the right player if they became available.

However, the 58-year-old has indicated that the club will not be seeking out many changes to the squad, as the group have now settled into a good rhythm after the overhaul they oversaw in the summer.

"We're always reviewing the situation as you go into January, like every club will," said Parkinson, via The Leader.

"But we made a lot of changes in the summer and we feel a lot of players have now settled into new houses in the area and are getting to know the environment.

"We'll always have one eye on it if the right player comes available, obviously.

"But we're enjoying working with the group we've got and we've got other players coming back into the group."

Broadhead broke Wrexham’s record transfer fee in the summer, with the forward arriving from Ipswich Town in a deal reportedly worth up to £10 million.

The 27-year-old has contributed three goals and one assist from 14 appearances in Parkinson’s side so far this season.

The Welsh outfit are currently 10th in the Championship table, three points away from the play-off places after 18 games.

The Red Dragons are unbeaten in their last eight league fixtures, with their last defeat coming on 18 October against Stoke City.

Next up for Wrexham is a trip to face Preston North End on 6 December in a 3pm kick-off.

A quieter January makes a lot of sense for Wrexham

Wrexham needed to strengthen their squad in the summer in order to survive in the Championship, and their work is now paying off given their strong position in the table.

While it’s clear that their Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are quite ambitious, this upcoming window will be a good time to avoid too much transfer activity.

The Red Dragons were linked with a Sidiki Cherif last month, who is reportedly worth £17 million, and that could be the kind of opportunity that’s worth pursuing.

However, Wrexham should err on the side of caution when it comes to any activity next month as there is no need to rock the boat when the squad is earning good results and playing well.
